Spider Solitaire is one of the most challenging and rewarding solitaire card games ever created. Named after the eight legs of a spider (representing the eight foundation piles), this game tests your patience, planning, and strategic thinking as you build complete sequences from King down to Ace. Our free online Spider Solitaire starts with one-suit mode using only Spades, making it accessible for beginners while still providing a genuine strategic challenge. Build descending sequences within the ten tableau columns, and when you complete a full King-to-Ace run, it's automatically removed from play. Play Spider Solitaire free in your browser whenever you want a deep, satisfying puzzle experience. With no time pressure and unlimited undos of your thinking, it's the perfect game for patient strategists.

Controls: Click a card to select, click a column to move. Click stock to deal new cards.

How to Play Spider Solitaire

Cards are dealt into 10 tableau columns. Build descending sequences of the same suit (King down to Ace). When you complete a full 13-card sequence, it's automatically removed from the board. Remove all eight sequences to win.

Click a card to select it, then click a destination column to move. You can move a card (or a properly ordered group of same-suit cards) onto any card of the next higher rank. Any card or group can be placed on an empty column.

When you run out of moves, click the stock pile to deal one new card to each of the 10 columns. You can only deal from stock when all columns have at least one card. Plan your moves carefully before dealing — new cards can block your sequences.

Spider Solitaire Tips & Strategies

  • Focus on building same-suit sequences — they can be moved as a group.
  • Try to empty a column as soon as possible to use as workspace.
  • Uncover face-down cards as a priority — more information means better decisions.
  • Avoid dealing from stock until you've exhausted all useful moves.
  • Build sequences on higher cards first — Kings are the foundation of every completed run.
  • When choosing between moves, prefer the one that reveals a face-down card.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I win Spider Solitaire?

Build and remove all eight complete sequences (King through Ace of the same suit). Focus on building ordered sequences, keeping columns clear for workspace, and uncovering hidden cards. Not every deal is winnable, but most are with careful play.

What is one-suit Spider Solitaire?

One-suit Spider Solitaire uses only Spades, making it easier because every card can stack on any other regardless of suit. It's the perfect way to learn Spider Solitaire strategy before tackling two-suit or four-suit variants.

When should I deal new cards from the stock?

Deal from stock only when you've made every useful move available. New cards land on top of every column, potentially blocking sequences. Make sure all columns have at least one card before dealing.
